That is what seventy high rollers got as a thank you from Ameristar Casino in Black Hawk at an event to show Ameristar’s appreciation for their best customers. In case you’re wondering, I didn’t get one.
These young rock musicians had so much attitude in front of the camera. It was fun to step into the Denver urban environment for a few days for these rock musician portraits. We had a challenging couple of shoots with the weather but the results are stunning! These kids rock! Thanks to Lydia at GlobalSound for organizing all of these photography shoots so well.
When Alana contacted me to shoot for her portfolio I knew it would be a great shoot because I had done her senior portraits four years before. She graduated from CU in engineering this past spring, has a great job, and is just looking to make some extra money in modeling. We shot her rock climbing at sunset and running and cycling at sun rise. I am up early anyway and this is just the most beautiful light of the day. Our rock climbing shoot was cut a little short by a strong thunderstorm. And yes, when you are on top of a mountain holding a tripod it feels even closer.
These kids are so busy and curious! Their attention changes so quickly you have to be ready to grab the shot or it’s gone. They had a very colorful Chinese dragon for the Chinese New Year that the kids loved.
When my friend Julie asked me to do a photo shoot for the Wow Childrens museum‘s marketing materials in Lafayette I was very excited. It was amazing watching and photographing these children play, interact and learn at the Wow Museum.
It was great working with Angela. She was so well prepared and put a lot of thought into her headshots – the clothes, flowers, etc. The kitchen was beautiful but very narrow which made it challenging to photograph in. I love the way the light came through the the window behind her, giving the photographs more depth.

I have always found yoga to be one of the most deceivingly difficult things to photograph. It shouldn’t be so hard, but it is – kind of like yoga itself. Here are a few promo shots we did for her website and marketing materials. I love the black and white plastic camera effect on a few of these. Angel is one of the best teachers in Boulder in my opinion. You can learn more about her yoga at shriyoga.
This is the third shoot Elana and I have done together and every time we get better images. Elana has Celiac disease so she can’t eat foods with gluten. She is an amazingly resourceful woman and has created a web site devoted to gluten free cooking, elanaspantry.com. Her new cookbook is available on Amazon.com. I get to taste a few of her recipes made with almond flour during the shoots and they have all been just teriffic.
